Non Ablative Laser Skin Rejuvenation

What is Non Ablative Laser Skin Rejuvenation?

Non ablative Laser Skin Rejuvenation is a recent technique used to combat signs of photo aging such as fine wrinkle and scars with minimal downtime.  It is best for the early sign of ageing.

How does it work?

As the name suggests, the technique does not ablate or remove the superficial layer of skin. The laser beam passes harmlessly through the superficial layer and stimulates cells in the deeper layer to produce new collagen, thus sparing the patients a prolonged downtime and minimizing complications like infection, post inflammatory pigmentation and scarring.

This procedure is generally well tolerated. Most patients will report a stinging sensation during the treatment. A numbing cream may be applied on sensitive areas one hour before the procedure.

There is little downtime. Patient can resume his or her daily activities almost immediately. Avoid long exposure under the hot sun. Regular use of sunblock is advised.

When can you see the results?

This laser technique is used to improve the appearance of scars and fine wrinkles only. It does not eradicate them and it is also not effective for deeper scars and dynamic wrinkles.

It can be combined with other form of treatments like chemical peeling or microdermabrasion for synergistic effects. The improvement is gradual and may be subtle.

Improvement is gradual. It may take several months to see the full effects.  Multiple treatment sessions up to 4 to 6 times are necessary to achieve significant improvement in the skin condition.  When a laser requires no downtime, a series of treatment may be necessary to see the desired results.

What are the Possible Side Effects?

The possible side effects include temporary redness of skin and post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation.  The most common is unwanted temporary darkening or lightening of the treated skin.  Risk of scarring is a relatively small risk.

Spectra Peel Laser Treatment

What is Spectra Peel?

Spectra peel is an innovative aesthetic procedure that gives you the benefits of other more aggressive facial rejuvenation procedures but without the discomfort and significant downtime.

It is a carbon assisted two step procedure skin rejuvenation treatments which are highly effective for removing of excessive sebum, minimize pore size, inflamed acne and fine wrinkles reduction.  Spectra Peel can also help to improve acne scar, uneven pigmentation and poor skin texture.

Acne and enlarged pores often coexist as dead skin cells and sebum choke the hair follicles, facilitating the growth of bacteria such as Proprionibacterium acnes.  This causes inflammation and pores expansion, blackheads, whiteheads and enlarged pore sizes. Aging and sun exposure can also aggravate the expansion of pore opening, resulting in thickening of skin and loss of skin elasticity.

How does Spectra Peel works?

First Spectra lotion is applied evenly to the skin. Spectra lotion is a specially formulated blend of carbon particles and mineral oil.

The Spectra Peel uses a two-step rejuvenation process to treat the enlarged pore size, acne scar and fine wrinkles.

After the lotion application, the Spectra mode is used to heat the outermost layer of skin, the collagen and skin tissues.

Then, the Q switched mode is heated to remove the carbon particles as well as exfoliating the skin. This Spectra Peel effect is immediate and does not cause delay skin exfoliation.

After the treatment, the skin cells associated with skin renewal are stimulated, resulting in collagen remodelling for shrinking pore sizes. It also targets at inflammatory acnes and sebaceous glands simultaneously, thus reducing acne count and number of new inflamed lesions.

How long is the procedure?

Generally, this procedure takes about 30 minutes. You will feel mild heat sensation when the laser beam strikes your skin. Most people tolerate this procedure very well and able to return to work immediately.

What is the Post Treatment Care?

Possible post treatment complications are usually minor like transient redness and photosensitivity which normal subsides within a few hours, depending on patient’s skin types and condition.

There is no specific post treatment skin care. Patients are advised to avoid direct sun exposure and use skin moisturizer plus sun block when outdoors. Also, anti-aging creams containing glycolic acid, retinoid and alcohol based toners should not be used for at least one week after this procedure.

You will see great improvement after the first treatment. Our doctor will recommend 3 to 4 treatments repeatedly every 3 to 4 weeks for optimal results.  Subsequent treatments are recommended at every two monthly depending on the individual skin condition.
